Manager Purchasing Department

Northern Linen is a dynamic international trading company and one of the biggest players in the linen segment of the textile market. The entire process from flax to linen sales product is controlled from its office in Nijmegen in cooperation with a team in China. We are a flat, no-nonsense organisation with 25 enthusiastic and driven colleagues. Under the trade name Northern Fabrics, we have also been supplying fabrics in cotton, polyester and viscose qualities for several years.

What will you do?

You manage the department efficiently and you are responsible for improving procedures and processes as well as balanced budgets and optimal targets. You are also responsible for competitive procurement contracts. You draw up KPI’s, discuss them with management and take relevant actions where necessary. In addition, you represent the department internally and externally and work closely with the Operations director, director/owner, all relevant departments and our organisation in China.

What do you bring along?

You have a relevant HBO education level preferably in textile goods knowledge or procurement. You have relevant working experience in an international trade environment and at least have affinity with the textile industry. Furthermore, you are a strong personality, strong in convincing, analysing and communicating. As a manager, you have a motivating style of leadership. You speak English well and are proficient in MS Office and ERP systems.

Job Profile

I. PURPOSE
Efficient management of department, employees and organisation of work combined with optimal processes, procedures, communication and cooperation

II. RESPONSIBILITIES
– Managing department and realising adequate management, processes and procedures
– Realising balanced budgets and targets
– Representing the purchasing department internally and externally

III. RESPONSIBILITIES
– Negotiate competitive purchase prices and contracts
– Implementing process improvements, efficiency and organisation of work

IV. OPERATIONS
– Managing employees, department and organisation of work
– Improve efficiency, processes, procedures, communication, cooperation
– Support procurement activities (where necessary)
– Responsible for purchasing contracts
– Responsible for department budget
– Draw up and analyse kpi and procurement figures and take necessary actions
– Weekly department meetings / discuss current issues and actions
– Coordinate with Operations director and other departments
– Cooperation with the organisation in China
– Participation in MT
– Coordinating with HR on various personnel topics

V. FUNCTION REQUIREMENTS
– Bachelor level preferably in textile commodity knowledge or purchasing
– Relevant work experience (in an international trade organisation) and affinity with the textile market
– Management skills
– Communication skills
– English spoken and written, Chinese is an advantage
– MS office package & ERP systems

– Compile the Northern Fabrics collection twice a year in collaboration with our Stylist
– Visit suppliers (China/Pakistan) and international textile fairs in Europe and China
– Consultation with Finance regarding payment planning and planning of purchasing cloth
– Achieve agreed targets (stimulate circulation of articles to a minimum of 4 replenishments per year)
